Media Release Wednesday 22nd Septmber: James Tesoriero, Coaching and Development Manager Palmerston High Qualify for Finals in All Grades of 2010 NTRU Schools 7s Cup More than 20 schoolboy and schoolgirl teams competed across 4 divisions in today’s NTRU Schools 7s Cup tournament at Austar Rugby Park. Most major Darwin schools were represented in addition to Taminmin College, Palmerston High School, and Katherine High and St Joseph’s from the Katherine region. The tournament was conceived by NTRU development staff as a means of promoting participation in 7s rugby, while also creating interest in the upcoming Oceana International Sevens tournament. Tournament organisers were very pleased with today’s competition which involved more than 200 school students, many experiencing 7s rugby for the first time. Following today’s pool matches, teams were seeded in each division for Semi Finals, the winners of which qualified for the divisional Finals to be played during the 2010 Oceana Sevens Championship on the 1st and 2nd of October. Palmerston High School were the day’s top performers, qualifying for the Finals of each division.
